AI in the Classroom: Generative Tools and Beyond: Further Resources

Further Resources

This AI policy generator tool looks at AI from various perspectives (humanist, technologist, etc.) to focus on the all-some-no use idea through different lenses. It’s thought-provoking in spite of being less specific about task and tool.

This guidance page on AI policies offers two sections of particular interest: “share the rationale behind your policy” and “define acceptable use.” The latter may be useful as you consider the “task” aspect of your stance on AI use.

Elon University, who created a student AI guide, has a page on developing AI writing assignments and syllabus policies that provide further ideas of not just phrasing, but how to frame AI use. While its focus is on generative AI, its further resources are helpful.

In addition to providing similar information as above, this page also outlines some of the ethical considerations of AI use—vital if you are teaching a course relating to ethics in a particular profession, or if the school’s Honor Code plays a large role in your course.
