STUDENT FAQS

When should I begin working with Career Services? Students should start meeting with us early in the first year to establish a plan for expanding their understanding of career choices, developing an initial resume, and creating a plan for future success.

Why do I need a resume so soon? Many employers expect students to submit a resume when they apply for part-time and summer employment. It is also important to create an initial resume that you can add to at the end of each semester or year to capture your experiences and accomplishments as you progress through your academic program.

Where do I go to look for a job? Handshake is the job search tool that connects students with employers, part-time jobs, internships, and career opportunities. Career Fairs and Career Services workshops are also posted in Handshake.

When do I start preparing for graduate or professional school? It's never too early to start researching graduate and professional school options and timelines. The sophomore or junior is a great time to begin exploring. By the summer before the senior year, students should begin studying and registering for admission exams and learning about admission processes at schools of interest.
