I'm Brittany Hickey, the Reference and Instruction Librarian at Columbia College. I have a B.S. in Marine Science and a Master's in Library Science (both from USC). Some of my favorite books are: Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake, The Secret of Pembrooke Park by Julie Klassen, and Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger. In my spare time, I enjoy photography and day trips around South Carolina.
For Students: I'm here to help you with all of your research needs: from fine-tuning your topic to finding the perfect source! If I'm not at the Reference Desk, feel free to head back to my office. You can also email me to schedule a one-on-one help session. No question is too big or too small.
For Faculty: Email/call me to schedule a research help session for your classes! This could be anything from how to use the databases to understanding the difference between primary and secondary sources to identifying fake news. I'm also happy to create a research guide for your course (just fill out this form). Are your students doing research on women leaders (i.e. women in science, women in psychology, etc.)? Ask me about our Research Badge!
