Evaluating Information: SIFT

The SIFT method, pioneered by digital literacy expert Mike Caulfield, is a method of checking the credibility and trustworthiness of online claims and sources.   SIFT builds on the traditional checklist approaches, such as CRAAP, to online information assessment by offering  4 additional steps.  The SIFT method is fast, easy, and applicable to any type of online information, including news stories, scholarly articles, social media, videos, images, and more.
